Dan C. West

dan west hsDan West, Ed.D., Senior Consultant, of Counsel had a distinctive career as president of two fine liberal arts colleges and vice president for college relations and development at two larger liberal arts colleges that gives him extensive expertise in attracting, evaluating and hiring senior leadership.

During his distinguished career he served as president of Lyon College in Arkansas and Carroll University in Wisconsin. He later served as vice president of college relations at Union College in New York, where he led a campaign for $151 million. Next he served as vice president for development at Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, where he led a campaign for $230 million. After retirement he served as interim vice president for institutional advancement at Agnes Scott College and interim vice president for institutional advancement at Lyon College.

Dr. West earned a B.A. degree in history from Austin College in Texas, a B.D. degree in biblical studies from Union Presbyterian Seminary in Virginia, a doctorate in systematic theology from Vanderbilt University in Tennessee and a doctorate in education from Harvard University in Massachusetts. He has written two dissertations, published 15 articles and co-authored 3 books. He has served on the boards of the National Association of Independent Colleges (NAIC), the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), the Association of Presbyterian Colleges, and Agnes Scott College.

He has received honorary degrees from Buena Vista College, Tusculum College, and Lyon College.

Dan joined Collegiate Counsel in 2016. He and his wife Sidney live in the Atlanta area.
